CONCERTS

March 11

Rain Brings Change

KIPP Believe Primary
3815 St. Bernard Avenue
New Orleans, LA 7012

2:45 PM

Rain Brings Change highlights repertoire that features natural bodies of water and water-based events, like Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Born on the Bayou,” Zachary Richard’s “Big River,” and Band of Heathen’s “Hurricane.” Our concert will feature a live experiment designed by students with Ripple Effect Water Literacy Project based on Bessie Smith’s “Backwater Blues.” Rounded out by showstoppers like Cha Wa’s “My People” and the newly composed “Lowlands,” this concert puts our young talents on full display as we combine the power of science and song!

Ensemble(s): NVNO at KIPP Believe Primar

Framed by two versions of “Wade in the Water,” Gales of Song unites music and narrative to inspire reflection on the emotional, cultural, and environmental impacts of water in New Orleans. Quiet moments are threaded between songs like Irma Thomas’ “Another Man Done Gone,” and Lil Wayne’s “Tie My Hands" to create space for audience members to write down their water stories, whether connected to rivers and lakes, or even something sacred.
